ICDP training measures include general courses that cover all relevant aspects of scientific drilling, as well as courses on specific themes.  The general training  courses are typically held annually at or near an operating drill site. In order to support proponents, engineers, and scientists for their specific tasks within their drilling project ICDP also provides a number of tailored training courses on demand.

Principal Investigators of running or forthcoming ICDP drilling projects are encouraged to propose their own training courses. The course agenda should be project-related. The special themes and the appropriate levels of the courses can be tailored for each ICDP project and its science team.
