The ICDP 2026 Training Course, held 07–12 June at the KTB Geocenter in Bavaria, Germany, brought together international researchers for a full week of combined hands-on wireline logging, data integration, and scientific drilling with project-based teamwork. Participants wrapped up the week by developing and presenting their own draft ICDP drilling proposals—ready to contribute to the next generation of continental drilling projects.

The course combined theory and practice, with main focus on borehole logging (tool theory to data interpretation). Topics also covered drilling engineering, core/data management, and ICDP project planning/proposal writing.

New this year: a session led by the ICDP Early Career Researcher (ECR) Network to foster collaboration and skill development in the global scientific drilling community.
