Drilling of KFD1 continued throughout the day and night reaching depth of 1264m. We crossed the Deccan trap and started drilling into the granitic basement.
OLGA arrives on site! With the arrival of Thomas Wiersberg, gas monitoring will be carried out during the drilling of the KFD1 borehole. The equipment can measure helium and radon besides other gases such as hydrogen, CO2 and hydrocarbons. The equipment has been set up at the drill site. Connections to the mud-gas separator (during mud drilling) and the air-gas separator (during air hammer drilling) will be established shortly. While such measurements have been carried out earlier with mud rotary drilling, this will be the first time that an attempt will be made to detect anomalous gases during air hammer drilling.
Drilling resumed and reached 1031m. Again we encountered water loss zone at 1031m. We placed LCM pill to arrest the water loss. Current operation is waiting on pill.
KFD1 drilling got resumed at 12:30 PM (IST) after successfully completing casing and cementation. Drilling is in progress. The present drill depth is 580 m.
Fitting of BOP control line, choke manifold line, kill manifold line, riser nipple and flow line completed. BOP tested at 3000 psi. Started lowering the drill pipes for cement drilling with TCR bit.
