Over the past two days, the drillers injected two slugs of cement (47 gallons each) into the hole in an effort to stabilize the fragmented rock beneath the casing. Today we tried to core this cement and rock in the region beneath the casing, but once again the core barrel became stuck in the hole. This occurred despite last week's milling efforts to straighten the drill string pathway, and despite using our shortest core barrel (only five feet long). By the end of the day we began tripping out of the hole and preparing a fishing tool, hopefully we will retrieve the core barrel tomorrow.
