Drilling of cement continued on October 10th at a depth of 3085 m. At 3120 m fluctuations in the stand-pipe pressure were observed and a total loss of circulation was detected. Drilling continued until 12 and was subsequently stopped at a depth of 3152 m. At 12 the string was pulled up to 2600 m and preparation for a cement job started. The cement job was carried out by pumping a total of 15 m3 of cement slurry through the drill string followed by 30 m3 of water. The string was then pulled out of the well.
Drilling activity continued at 02:30 in the morning after the weather condition improved and drilling through cement commenced to a depth of 2947 m. At this depth a total circulation loss >50 L/s was observed. A total of 5m3 of cement slurry was then pumped down to seal off the loss zone.
The well was cleaned and 10m3 gypsum solution was pumped into the well followed by 26m3 of water. A quick cement job of 5m3 was carried out from 18:30-18:45. Finally POOH started at 20:50 after pumping water. Running of a drill string in hole has been on hold since 6 o'clock this morning due to strong winds.
Pulling out of the coring string had to be stopped at 1:45 in the night of October 5th due to a storm. The wind speed was between 20-30 m/s. Pulling the string continued after the storm calm down and the core barrel was finally out of the well at 23:30. There was no core in the core barrel and the coring bit was badly worn. The plan is to clean the well and conduct a cement job through the drill string.
The second core run took place yesterday evening 20:00 to 22:00. One meter of core, 3178-3179 m, seemed to have been drilled, and it took some 10tn to pull it loose. The core barrell is being retrieved from the hole but POOH was severely delayed due to almost gale force wind, since 02:00 this morning. According to the weather forecast this storm may last through this day.
The well was circulated for a good hour yesterday after the drill string had been pulled out, with a total circulation loss . Temperature, pressure and spinner logging was carried out, showing a new loss zone at ~3140m depth. Then the 2nd CORE barrel was run in hole from about noon yesterday. RIH was intermittently halted last night due to strong wind gusts. Core bit is expected to be at bottom this afternoon.
Drilling continued to a depth of 3178 m last evening. At that depth total loss of circulation was measured and the string got stuck for a short while. Drilling activity was stopped for several hours during last night due to the strong wind conditions. After cleaning and circulating the well it was started at 7:30 AM to POOH. POOH will be followed by a logging in the open hole.
Dilling in cement started last night. When drilling from 2945 to 2950 m a loss of 22 l/s was measured. Drilling continued and a total circulation loss occurred at a depth of 3068 m. Subsequently the well was circulated and cleaned. Currently drilling into cement continues.
On September 24th, drilling was ongoing for most of the day, through the cement plug and into formation from 3040 (mix with cement) to 3117.4 m.During drilling circulation loss was going up and drilling was finally stopped at 1630 hrs due to full loss at 3116 m, the well was circulated and a polymer pill was sent down the hole to push up the bottom fill.Drilling started again at 2045 hrs for 1hrs45min with full loss. Decision was taken to plug the LCZ.
During most of September 23rd, drilling through the fiber pipes and the cement was ongoing WOB 0 to 2 tons. Drilling stopped at 1100 hrs to circulate for 45 minutes before drilling again to the depth of 3021 m that was reached at 1330 hrs. ISOR logging engineers were on site and gyro survey started at 1530 hrs and 2 hours of circulation were necessary to clean the hole before running the gyro. Circulation losses after the gyro at 2100 hrs were measured at 24 l/s.
Drilling continued in the morning of September 23rd, and the cement float collar was drilled at the depth of 2937 m at 0630 hrs with WOB between 0 and 2 tons. No losses were measured at that time. At 0800 hrs, losses were about 13 l/s, the cement is rather soft. Losses measured 18 l/s at 0955 hrs. Drill bit depth is 3000 m at 1100 hrs. Drilling has stopped at 3002.4 m to run gyro survey.
A Kuster K-10 log was run on the 21st of September and completed at 09:30. Subsequently 20 l/s were pumped on the well from 11:00 to 11:25 when cementing preparations were completed, but cementing commenced at 11:35. Cementing was at 2969 m depth (118,3 m of fibre pipes). Following the logging the rig crew used the cement string to find the top of cement, which appeared to be at 2960 m. 15 l/s were pumped on the well, which appeared not to show any losses. Therefore, it was concluded that the cement plugging had been successful.
Drilling in formation at 3000 m started just after midnight on 17th September and drilled upto 3069m. Cuttings have been analysed down to 3069 m. A decision was then made to make two coring runs in the well and pull the 8 ½“ drill bit out of hole.
Cleaning of the well went well. Polymer and water were used to clean out the bottomfill. Consequent losses were measured 4 L/s. The bit was then pulled into the casing and an hour later the bit was run down the whole to check the bottomfill which was none. Losses were 12 L/s. Consequently preparations for a cement job were executed and a temperature log was ordered to evaluate conditions at the bottom of the well for the cementing job.
The preparation of the IDDP-2 DIS is in full swing. The expected start of drilling will be August 4th, 2016. Therefore some additional fine tuning tasks on the DIS forms and reports have been done, before the DIS will move to the drill site.
