Coring into formation started yesterday at 17:00 and was terminated at a depth of 4255.3 m at 22:30. Afterwards the string was pulled out of hole while pumping 13 L/s on the kill-line. The core barrel was at the rig floor this morning and 20 cm of broken core was recovered.
Pulling out of hole was completed at about 19:30. After a one-hour maintenance break running in with the core barrel for core run 8 started at 20:30. Currently the coring bit is at a depth of 2700 m.
Drilling was stopped at a depth of 4254 m due observed spike in torque and simultaneous increase in the stand-pipe pressure after drilling below 4251 m. The well was subsequently circulated and cleaned. Activity at the rig site need to be stopped at 18:30 due to strong wind gusts. POOH started at 01:30 and currently the drill bit is at 3500 m.
Following reaming the well drilling into a rather soft formation continued at 17:30 yesterday. Drilling was stopped at 23:00 to repair a pump it was then continued at 00:30 and is still ongoing. Current depth is 4157 m.
?The RIH took all day and around 19:00 the drill bit was at the bottom of the well. The well was circulated for 30 minutes before drilling began at 20.30. Drilling lasted until around 4 o’clock this morning. While pulling up for reaming the string got stuck, 9 m off the bottom. Reaming is now ongoing. It is possible to rotate the string and circulation is fine but pulling up is very slow.
The core barrel was out of hole and on the rig floor at about 18:30 yesterday and 12cm of core and loose rock fragments on top of the core were retrieved. Run in hole started just after midnight and the depth of the drill bit at 09:00 was 2100 m.
Run in hole with the core barrel for core run 7 continued yesterday and was completed at 03:30 this morning. Coring was then started at a depth of 4089. 5 and was terminated at 05:45 at a depth of 4090.6 m. Pull out of hole is ongoing.
After the well was circulated pulling out of hole was started at 15:30 yesterday. The drill bit was on the rig floor at 04:00 this morning and showed some damage. After a short inspection of the top drive run in hole with the core barrel for core run 7 is currently ongoing.
The depth of 4000 m was reached yesterday just before noon. Shortly after the stand-pipe pressure showed an increase and the torque spiked. Subsequently the well was reamed and circulated and drilling commenced at late afternoon. Drilling is ongoing into hard formation and current depth is 4020 m.
Coring was commenced at 12:30 and was terminated at 15:00. Subsequently POOH was initiated and the core barrel was out of well at about 01:00 this morning. 15cm of core and pieces of rock fragments on top were recovered. RIH started afterwards but it was delayed and was stopped from 09:00 to midnight due to high wind gusts.
Between 22:00 and midnight last night the core barrel was out and a core of about 4 m and some broken rock fragments on top were retrieved.Following the retrieval of the core another core barrel was prepared for a second core run and RIH commenced at midnight. At 10:45 this morning the bit was at 3750 m.
The drill string was out of hole yesterday at 18:30 which was followed by logging work. At 09:15 when the tool was at a depth of 3351 m it got stuck. After several hours the logging tool was free again at 05:30 this morning and the logging run was terminated. RIH with the core barrel for core run number 5 is ongoing.
The original plan was to pull out of hole. But it was decided to continue drilling into formation commenced at 9:00 yesterday and was stopped at 21:30 at a depth of 3865 m.The well was circulated and a wiper trip was done up to 3741 m. Pulling out of hole started at 06:15 this morning and the current bit depth is 3000 m.
Drilling was stopped at a depth of 3842.8 m and subsequently a wiper trip was run, which was just completed. It is planned to POOH now, but it may slow down due to weather conditions this morning currently wind gusts being around 20 m/s. Afterwards TP logging is planned which will be followed by core run #5.
Drilling was continuous yesterday according to plan and without problems until about 1800 hrs last night. At 3751 m formation appeared to become very soft and cuttings fell on string.Torque spiked and the string was pullled to 3350 m. Some reaming followed and subsequently the well seemed to become stable. Drilling has continued since. Depth to bit at ten this morning is 3770 m.
?Yesterday the drill string was RIH at 06:16 and the bit reached the bottom at 3645 m at 21:15 last night. Since then drilling blind in formation has continued without any noticable problems. The drill bit was at 3682 m at 10:30 this morning.
Core run hit formation at 3647,5 m depth at 06:15 this morning. At 10:30 it appears that the core bit is about 50 cm into formation. Coring is still ongoing.
According to the plan at about 03:00 run in hole commenced with a core barrel in the BHA. Coring attempt will hopefully be conducted during late afternoon or early evening.
Core barrel came out of well at 10:30 this morning and it contains the deepest core sample in Iceland! The core will now be removed from the barrel and the lowest part being from about 3648 m depth. Another core run is subsequently planned.
Running in with the core barrel continued and reaming was necessary all the way down to the bottom of the well, which was reached at about 9:00. Coring has just started.
Logging was finished last night .RIH was then started with the core barrel. Rig activities are stopped since 06:45 due to the weather conditions and the bit is at a depth of 250 m.
Pulling out of hole was completed at 09:30 yesterday. Temperature log was then carried out followed by a caliper log. However, caliper log was terminated due to high temperature in the well. Neutron-neutron, natural gamma and temperature-pressure spinner logs were conducted consecutively during the night and early morning. Currently, resistivity log is ongoing.
Gyro survey was conducted yesterday afternoon. After the gyro survey was completed the well was reamed and the bottom hole fill checked. POOH started at 00:15 this morning (current depth 660 m) which will be followed by a full logging program.
Drilling stopped this morning at 02:00 at a depth of 3648 m and a wiper trip to the casing shoe was carried out. At the moment a gyro survey is being conducted.
The drill string was loose at 19:00 yesterday and the string was pulled up to a depth of 2935m. After checking its status run in hole was started and drilling resumed. At mid night the well has reached a depth of 3346 m which makes it the deepest geothermal well in Iceland. Currently drilling is ongoing and at 12:00 the depth is 3383 m.
At noon yesterday a pull of 255 tons freed the drill string which was then pulled out for inspection. After inspection run in hole started after midnight. But because of stormy weather it has been delayed this morning. At 10:45 it is at 2638 m depth.
Drilling into formation continued this morning at a depth of 3305 m. At about 5:30 the drill bit got stuck at a depth of 3321 m. Currently, efforts are ongoing to free the string.
Drilling in formation started yesterday at 3185 m depth and continued this morning at a depth of 3224 m. Drilling continue until 22 with an average rate of penetration of 3.7 m/h. During drilling polymer pills were regularly added to the drilling fluid. The drilling parameters indicate the formation to be very hard.
Drilling continued throughout the day and into the night. Loss of circulation was regularly measured, it varied from 2-6.5 L/s. This morning at the depth of 3166 m the losses were 11 L/s and a total loss at a depth of 3177 m. A bit of rock fragments of altered medium grained intrusive rock have been found in samples from 3160 to 3175 m.
Cementing was conducted to seal off the loss zone in the well. After wait on cement drilling resumed from the top of the cement which was at 2945 m depth. Currently, drilling is at 2947 m and no losses have been detected.
Run into hole started at 11 yesterday and the top of the cement was detected at 2601m and drilling started at 20:00. Currently, drilling into cement is ongoing.
