Siyanda Mngadi, PhD student at the University of the Witwatersrand and Kosuke Sugimura, undergraduate student at the Ritsumeikan University are working with extremely fractured core, which makes it very difficult to scan. We are conducting a detailed fracture and lithological analysis. Unfortunately, this highly fractured core makes it almost impossible to orient because the individual core samples hardly match. It must be noted that this core was deliberately drilled into highly stresse, fractured zone and seismogenic around the stope for the purpose of analyzing shear fractures forming around the stope.
