ECR Mentorship

...a supportive network for your research journey

The ICDP ECR Mentorship Program is dedicated to supporting the professional and personal growth of early career geoscientists engaged in continental scientific drilling.

We connect students, postdocs, and early-stage professionals with experienced mentors from the ICDP community, fostering relationships that encourage knowledge sharing, skill development, and career advancement.

To join the ICDP Mentorship Program, you must first apply to the annual ICDP Early Career Researcher Workshop - Next Generation, part of the ICDP ECR initiative. This workshop is the main entry point for new participants; where we connect prospective mentees with mentors, facilitate matches, and start the onboarding process.

Join the ECR Network anytime!

Be part of ICDPs Early Career Researcher Network by filling out our quick Google Form to get started. There’s no application required or deadline.  We’ll be in touch soon to welcome you to the network.

What We Offer

Personalized Mentor-Mentee Pairing

We thoughtfully match mentees with mentors based on research interests, career goals, and areas of expertise. This ensures a meaningful and productive mentoring experience tailored to your needs.

Guidance and Support

Mentors provide advice on a wide range of topics, including research planning, fieldwork strategies, scientific publishing, grant writing, and navigating academic and non-academic career paths. They also share insights on work-life balance, networking, and leadership development.

Workshops and Events

Regular mentorship workshops and networking events offer opportunities to connect with peers and senior scientists, discuss challenges, and share experiences. These events are designed to build confidence, foster collaboration, and help you expand your professional network within the global ICDP community.

Long-term Professional Relationships

The program encourages ongoing communication and relationship-building, allowing mentees to benefit from continued guidance as they progress in their careers.

Our mentors are experienced scientists with long-standing involvement in ICDP. Their expertise spans diverse areas of Earth science, united by a focus on scientific drilling. Actively engaged in ongoing ICDP projects, they bring valuable insight and field experience to support early-career researchers.
