Preparations are nearing completion for sample handling. Dr.Thomas Wiersberg, from GFZ Potsdam, has recently arrived on site to set up his gas analysis equipment. As during previous phases of the SAFOD project, Thomas' data will provide important information on the fluids and gases entrained in the drill hole during Phase 3.
