Welded ash flow tuffs in the Cassia Mountains

We has started coring at the Kimberly Site (42.55 N, -114.34 W). Over the weekend, while the drill site was coming together and waiting for the cement to cure, we took a short field trip to the Cassia Mountains to see rhyolite ash flows in outcrop. The Science crew get a preview of what to expect in Kimberly core. Sure enough, the first core out of Kimberly was a devitrified rhyolite ash flow tuff. This piece was collected 214.27 meters below the surface
