The Central American Bridge Between Two Continents And Two Oceans
Project Acronym: NICA-BRIDGE | State: Workshop Held
The targets are the Lakes Nicaragua and Managua, Nicaragua.
The region is ideal because of its sedimentary and volcanological setting; its biological characteristics and its ecosystem dynamics (because of canal construction). Scientists will conduct interdisciplinary seismological, volcanological, paleoclimatological, paleoecological, and paleoenvironmental studies.
The first seismic pre-site survey confirms a drillable long and continuous sediment record suitable for initial drill site selection. Further Investigations will be supplemented by additional seismic profiles and shallow drilling.
