11/02/2005 - Baker Hughs ready with coring drill-bits to acquire some spot cores at the bottom of well RN-17.

Coring services have been hired from Baker Hughes (Christensen) to drill spot cores in well RN-17. The spot coring will be funded by the ICDP. The equipment was intended to be used at the bottom of well RN-17 with a present TD at a depth of 3082.4m. However, due to unexpected liability issues between the drilling contractor and ISOR, the Iceland GeoSurvey, spot coring had to be postponed to a later point in time. Hitaveita Sudurnesja Ltd. has now solved these liability issues, and spot coring will be attempted at the bottom of well RN-19, which is currently being drilled at Reykjanes. Extensive spot coring is intended during the IDDP phase 2, which is planned for autumn in 2006.
