Project websites

Common user interface for data dissemination and outreach purposes

Beside the operational tools for the data and sample management in the field, in the labs, and on storage places for sample material, the project should present itself in the World Wide Web. ICDP is doing this for all ICDP projects beginning with the first approved workshop proposal.

Project outreach

Within the conceptual design of ICDP each project gets the same space and weight initially. As much as the project develops, and according to actual activities the project website becomes more important as it can rises to one of the ICDP Highlights. Each project is described on a project profile which derives from the proposals. Topics such as News, Scientists, Press & Media, Publications, Workshop, etc. are updated as they become relevant. Most of these topics are public and therefore a big outreach issue.

In order to enhance the outreach effect, a project can also maintain its own Web site, and can use modern social media on new mobile communication systems.

Project data

The project data is usually confidential and under secure access for registered science team members only. This protected area serves as knowledge transfer platform within the science team, and is very useful for selecting samples.
