TADP: Second Sampling Party finished!

6581 samples were collected at the sampling party for site 2

From 6–31 July 2026, members of the Trans-Amazon Drilling Project conducted sampling on sediments from site 2 at the CSD Facility in Minneapolis, USA. The collection of 6,581 samples has the potential to greatly advance the understanding of the Amazonas. ICDP extends its congratulations to the entire Trans-Amazon Drilling Project team and looks forward to excellent research outcomes in the near future.

The Trans-Amazon Drilling Project (TADP) aims to document the evolution of biodiversity of the Amazon forest across most of its entire reach throughout its entire history, and to determine how the evolution of the physical environment (e.g. tectonics, climate, geomorphology) has shaped the generation, distribution, and preservation of neotropical biodiversity.
