ICDP Proposal Call now open

The International Continental Scientific Drilling Program (ICDP) invites new scientific drilling proposals to help reveal Earth’s history and address global challenges. This multinational initiative — supported by 21 countries and UNESCO — offers researchers a platform to investigate pressing planetary and societal questions across ICDP’s four core themes:

- Geodynamic Processes
- Geohazards
- Georesources
- Environmental Change

ICDP funds 5–70% of project costs, leveraging support from national agencies and partners. Since inception, ICDP has invested ~$60M in over 60 projects, facilitating ~$240M in further collaboration!

🔎 Proposal System Update
ICDP now offers four proposal types, including a fast-track option for urgent, high-impact projects.

🗝️ Key criteria: Scientific quality, global relevance, inclusivity, and early-career scientist involvement.

🔔 Eligibility: Open to PIs from ICDP member countries (see list) with required international collaboration.
