After days of crumpled core liners, as we drill interbedded unconsolidated sand and very hard clay we have switched over to drilling without core liners and extruding directly from the core barrels into split core liners.
There is a little informational video of the core being extruded from the core barrel into the split liner (click here for the video). The method has made a huge difference in recovery.
