PhD Opportunity at GFZ Potsdam + University Kiel (2 + 1 years)

Topic: “Core-log-seismic integration in hard rock environments using the ICDP drilling project COSC-1, Sweden"

The PhD candidate should investigate the geophysical properties of the metamorphic rocks from the COSC-1 borehole (Sweden) using a cross-disciplinary approach, based on the core-log-seismic integration method (CLSI).

The deadline of the application is by 31. May 2017. Application, letter of motivation, CV and certificates shall be sent via email to applications(at) under reference number 24/64/17

See here for more information.

CLSI is an interdisciplinary strategy, integrating core measurements, logging data and seismic data, which differs in spatial resolution and rock properties that can be measured.  The combination of core, log and seismic measurements bridges lab data on samples with in situ logging information and bridges scales from the sub millimetre-scale of core investigations to the decimetre scale of logging data and ultimately the metre scale of seismic data. The CLSI is fundamental to reduce the key uncertainties associated with formation evaluation.
