TADP: Sampling Party on Site 1 Cores finished!
The cores of site 1 (Acre, Brazil) arrived at the repository of the CSD facility in Minneapolis on August 6, where an international team of scientists eagerly started the first TADP sampling party. From August 6 to the end of this month more than 860 m of cores were measured, split, described and sampled, while the drilling at site 2 is still ongoing with a present drill depth of about 920 m.
The Trans-Amazon Drilling Project (TADP) aims to document the evolution of biodiversity of the Amazon forest across most of its entire reach throughout its entire history, and to determine how the evolution of the physical environment (e.g. tectonics, climate, geomorphology) has shaped the generation, distribution, and preservation of neotropical biodiversity.
