TADP reached 865 m depth...
After finishing a longer maintance phase and successfully conquering some difficulties, drilling has resumed and TADP has now reached 865 m. Coring with a 63.5 mm diameter and a split liner revealed that the extracted sandstones and mudstones are becoming harder.
The Trans-Amazon Drilling Project (TADP) aims to document the evolution of biodiversity of the Amazon forest across most of its entire reach throughout its entire history, and to determine how the evolution of the physical environment (e.g. tectonics, climate, geomorphology) has shaped the generation, distribution, and preservation of neotropical biodiversity.
