TADP: Drilling is finished!

The drilling phase of TADP has finished with a final depth of 924 m at site 2. Altogether, about 1860 m were drilled in two phases in 2023 (site 1) and in 2024 (site 2) with a core recovery of 87 %. ICDP cordially congratulates the whole Trans Amazon Drilling Project team and looks forward to excellent research results in the coming years.

The Trans-Amazon Drilling Project (TADP) aims to document the evolution of biodiversity of the Amazon forest across most of its entire reach throughout its entire history, and to determine how the evolution of the physical environment (e.g. tectonics, climate, geomorphology) has shaped the generation, distribution, and preservation of neotropical biodiversity.
